Winter Hours & Covid Proceedures

UPDATE: 11/21/20

Dear Patrons,

Due to rising covid cases in our area, we are returning to curbside service. We will reevaluate in January. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for you but we need to prioritize the safety of our staff and community first. Below are some guidelines for how to request materials from the library and returns.

ADULT MATERIALS REQUESTS:

  1. Please call 823-7001 or email rmlibrary117@gmail.com with your specific requests, be sure to include your patron #, name and contact info. Leave a voice mail and we will call or email you back with an agreed upon pickup day/time.

  2. Examples of Requests:  “The Sentinel by Child or Lee Child’s latest, or a new thriller/romance/lit, anything by Margaret Atwood, please buy ….., a puzzle with 300 pieces, an EReader to borrow for a month ( have to be in good standing + a permanent resident), the telescope ( if you came to workshops on use), X game, etc.”

  3. LibraryThing.com has been a catalog of our books for years. Please use it, Click on covers and you’ll see all the latest adult books. You can either join then find RichardsonMemorialLibrary or sign in. The user name is: sugarhilllibrary and the password will be given if you call or email. It changes monthly via a pattern.

  4. New books/movies/audio/puzzles can be on loan for 2 weeks with no renewals. Others can be on loan for 3-4 weeks. Materials will not be loaned if there are overdue books on file.

  5. NOTE: While automating, we will no longer be able to offer concierge service and look through books to see if you have read the book(s) already. Sorry! We also ask, if you have many books please bring them back a few at a time instead of all at once if possible.

PICKUPS

  1. We will contact you as soon as we have the materials. Be sure to leave your answering machine on. Also note cell phone service does not work at the library thus texting is not an option. We will agree on a time to leave books in the DECK BOX marked PICKUPS ONLY by the green library return bin. (Family box is in the back lot). If your materials are not picked up on time they will go back into quarantine for 7 days. This will keep the box from being overcrowded.

RETURNS:

  1. You must drop off books in the green RETURN BOX. DO NOT use the pickup box and possibly contaminate books going out that are “clean”. Books will be held outside the library room for 7 days then recirculated.

  1. Puzzles must be in a bag with the elastic. Movies and audio books must be in a plastic bag also. We’ll make arrangements for larger items and E-Readers.

  2. New orders may not be placed if there are still materials outstanding. Older books may be renewed by leaving a message with your patron #.

FAMILIES/SCHOOLS WITH CHILDREN MATERIAL REQUESTS:

  1. Follow step one above but you are limited to 20 books at a time and you should not currently have any overdue books. Judy will negotiate the number for preschoolers if needed.

  2. EXAMPLES of Requests:  “Please send us 6 Board Book + some should be about Bears, latest BAD GUY book, or Bad Guys #2, books on pirated for my 2nd grader, biography for my Kdg or 4th grader, etc.”
